I am feeling proud, it's such an amazing thing to do this training, I always wanted to help people, but didn't know the method and didn't had enough knowledge and training. Now I can professionally help people.

The community is really helpful. based on my short time with the training I can say that this is making a lot of difference to peoples lives.

I believe the training provided practical steps, expectations, and possible scenarios to prepare a person to be a certified listener. It was also helpful to have a module on common mental health disorders so people are familiar and a ware of the possible things they may encounter in a chat. Finally, I believe it was beneficial to have the live training with a chat supervisor, but I think the training could have more thorough to really gage how well a person is at handling tough topics of conversation.

There are a few considerations here: i) you provide your trainees with a literacy quiz that is not only intimidating but also contradictory due to the illiteracy throughout the videos and quizzes; ii) your organization benefits from donations directly deposited via certified listeners volunteers, an alternative consideration will be to encourage your volunteers to raise donations within their community; iii) during the interview process, the interviewee discloses the $90 cover fee for training and I'm not sure why this mentioned and or why $90 suffices. This technique may make others feel as if your company is doing something "above and beyond" for their volunteers and may, in turn, make the individual applying for the position to feel as if they owe the company back (the donation). Food for thought 🙂

I enjoyed the first part of the training focussed on listening skills and mental health awareness. I found the technical training a bit confusing and am pleased I was able to get through it with with the help of Jacob! Looking forward to getting started now.
